Hi there, I’m Masha Semikina — artist, designer, illustrator, muralist, printmaker, founder of MARERA Design Studio, and so much more.
For me, art is a way to live many lives within my own one. I embrace the incredible diversity this world offers to us — and if I can’t directly experience something, I bring it to life through my imagination and different visual techniques.
That’s also why I refuse to limit myself to one profession or medium. Over the past 20 years, I’ve traveled across the world, studied diverse things in various countries, and worked in all kinds of fields.
This never-ending life experiment is what fuels me, and I never want it to stop!
Currently I’m deeply immersed in exploring the rich world of visual art.
I paint, draw, model, design, illustrate books, create surface patterns, paint murals, and delve into video and sound art.
As for my artistic themes, at the moment I’m drawn to the concept of womanhood. Inspired by personal experiences and universal issues affecting women worldwide, I explore female sexuality, gender dynamics, and the essence of beauty and strength. My work delves into the thoughts and emotions of women as they navigate their roles in today’s society.
Through this exploration, I aim to spark reflection on what lies beneath the surface of seemingly happy, fulfilled lives — encouraging viewers to consider the silent struggles and layered complexities that shape these identities.
